The founders of Coborn's Incorporated have always believed that everyone shares responsibility for the health of his or her community. That belief is still embedded in Coborn's culture today as a strong supporter of the local health care system.
In January 2002, Coborn's provided investment funds for the development of the Coborn Cancer Center to improve access to quality healthcare services for patients with cancer. It was around this same time that Chris Coborn, President/CEO, Coborn's Inc., and Greg Kurr, Corporate Vice President of Sales, Kemps, wanted to do more for the people of Minnesota, specifically children in Central Minnesota.
The First Annual “Grocers on the Green, Chip'n in for Kids Cancer” was held on September 16, 2002, at the St. Cloud Country Club, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The monies from the golf event benefit the Pediatric Cancer Unit at the Coborn Cancer Center. To date, Grocers on the Green has raised nearly $2 million dollars to support education and programs for children with cancer and their families, as well as providing professional child-life specialists at the Coborn Cancer Center.
