Pediatric Cancer Services
Proceeds from the Grocers on the Green: Chip'n in for Kids' cancer golf fundraiser support the Coborn Cancer Center’s Pediatric Cancer program at the CentraCare Health Plaza. The proceeds fund educational and support programs for children with cancer, their families, and hospital staff. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and participants in Grocers on the Green, the annual event has raised nearly $2 million since it begain in 2002, which has allowed the Coborn Cancer Center to:
- Continue to expand activities for kids and their families to relax and have fun, including the January Tree of Hope Event, the May Art Festival and the June Family Picnic with petting zoo, dunk tank and all! All of these events allow pediatric cancer patients and their families to network with one another, share their experiences and inspire one another to recovery.
- Partially fund two professional child-life specialists, whose services are not reimbursed by insurance. These specialists play a critical role in reducing children’s anxiety levels while receiving treatment.
- Create a closer integration with Coborn Cancer Center care partners in behavioral health services. This collaboration ensures that the Coborn Cancer Center is meeting not only the physical needs associated with cancer, but also the emotional needs of the precious child patients during their time of treatment and remission.
- Continue to offer the highest level of staff education, allowing them to keep abreast of the latest care treatments and ensure outstanding clinical outcomes and a superior patient experience.
The Coborn Cancer Center provides a local option for quality pediatric cancer care and fosters a strong healing, family environment during the cancer experience.
